A WEBQUEST FOR LEARNING TO LEARN

INTRODUCTION

You have come a long way from our first day together! CONGRATULATIONS, you are now in the last unit: Unit 10.This is a final revision to the most important grammar points of your English book. Are you ready to teach it to your classmates? Well, it´s your turn now.

TASK

You will have 180 minutes, during 3 sessions to build a powerpoint presentation, which you will have to present orally to the rest of the class. You need to deal with one of the main aspects we have learnt during this year, so get a partner and work in pairs with one of this topics:

1. PRESENT SIMPLE AND CONTINUOUS

2. PAST SIMPLE, CONTINUOUS AND PERFECT

3. PRESENT PERFECT WITH ITEMS SUCH AS: EVER, YET, ALREADY, FOR AND SINCE

4. PASSIVE

5. MODAL VERBS

6. FUTURE WITH WILL & GOING TO

7. FIRST CONDITIONAL

8. SECOND CONDITIONAL

9. INDIRECT SPEECH

10. VOCABULARY ASPECTS: negative suffixes, useful expressions, false friends, so/such/too, writing tips...

PROCESS

There are 10 different topics to choose for the 22 students, so there need to be 2 groups of three people, which will be those working with topics numbers 2 (dealing with the past) and number 3 (present perfect and its items). The choice of the topic will be determined by a draw celebrated during class time.Once the topics have been assigned to the different groups, you will have to search for information on the web related to that specific grammar point. The powerpoint presentation must include aspects not only related to the theory of that grammatical aspect, but also, practical sections dealing with examples, interactive exercises, functions where we can apply it, pictures, etc.

RESOURCES

You can use some of the websites provided in this webquest or some on your own.

EVALUATION

By the end of this task, you will be evaluated on several aspects:

  • 20% pair work attitude(cooperation, interest, availability...)

  • 50% process work (searching, gathering the appropriate information, solving problems, building a nice, organized and complete presentation...)

  • 30% final presentation (oral fluency, show acknowledgement on your topic, appropriate sequencing and content of the presentation).

CONCLUSION

You are ready now to start working with your project. Your teacher will be monitoring the process and facilitating your work, make sure you turn it in before the deadline. Good luck and keep up the good work!
